Last week Perfect Fuel attended the PM Expo in Toronto, Canada and displayed AXI’s STS-6000-4gpm Automated Fuel Filtration System, and an MTC-500-AFR Mobile Tank Cleaning System. Perfect Fuel was able to speak to many people at the expo about the dangers of stored fuel, and how to keep stored diesel fuel clean and bright.

Powergen Featured System: STS-6000-4gpm

Powergen 2010 is around the corner (Next week! eegad!), and one of the systems that will be available at AXI’s booth #2983 will be the STS-6000-4gpm. The STS 6000-4GPM Fuel Filtration Systems are self contained, stand-alone and fully automated. They recondition and stabilize fuel, eliminate and prevent microbial contamination and remove water, sludge and contaminants from tanks; preserving the integrity of stored fuel, providing reliable power whenever it is needed. The 4gpm separates, filters, and conditions fuel at 4 gallons per minute.

The principal components are a continuous duty motor with coupled gear pump, strainer/primary filter with vacuum sensor and gauge, Algae-X Fuel Conditioner, and a secondary filter with pressure gauge and sensor. The system is automatically operated by the programmable, UL 508A listed Algae-X Smart Filtration Controller. All components and control devices are contained within a fully enclosed, lockable, weatherproof NEMA 3R cabinet.

The strainer/primary filter protects the pump and removes water and particulate. Please specify “–S” for the optional Separ primary filter with water sensor alarm. The secondary filter is a quick change spin-on filter designed to remove emulsified water and contaminants down to 3 Micron.

For safe operation the STS 6000 is equipped with a drip tray monitored by a leak detector. Additional safety elements include automatic system shut-down and indicators when filter elements require service, high pump vacuum exists or a flow interruption is detected.

Installation of AXI STS Systems for Fallsview Casino & Resort Emergency Power Systems

The Fallsview Casino is Canada’s largest gaming resort, located on a cliff overlooking the world-renowned Horseshoe Falls of Niagara. If the generators of a $1 billion casino don’t function properly during a power failure the revenue from the gaming stops. To ensure that the two tanks that hold the 66,000 liters of emergency diesel fuel are always optimized, Perfect Fuel Preservation Ltd. recommended two AXI STS-6000-10gpm automated fuel filtration systems.

3,000 slot machines, 130 gaming tables, 374 luxury hotel rooms, and 1,500 seat theater require reliable power, and follow the Life Safety Codes by the NFPA to ensure the “…construction, protection, and occupancy features necessary to minimize danger to life…” . Canada’s Technical Safety Standards Association inspects and enforces public safety codes for all systems like the AXI STS-6000-10gpm, which passed with compliments on the high grade of engineering and assembly.

Algae-X FAQ: How Does Fuel Stability Affect Me?

Fuel stability is a serious concern for the diesel fuel user.

The chemistry of diesel fuel instability involves the chemical conversion of precursors to species of higher molecular weight with limited solubility. The conversion process often involves oxidation of the precursors. Fuel solvency plays a role, since the development of insolubles is always a function of both the presence of higher molecular weight species and the fuel capacity to dissolve them.

We all realize that fuel is an unstable, organic liquid that goes “bad”. Your vendor will always sell you the highest fuel quality possible. However, due to a variety of circumstances fuel may have “aged”, oxidized and/or contain water. It may have been contaminated before it was delivered to you or to your vendor.

Fuel has to travel from the refinery to the end user destination. It is pumped through pipelines, barged, trucked and stored in tank farms. Diurnal changes in temperature and exposure to the atmosphere will cause condensation and water in storage systems. None of this will help improve fuel quality.

When your fuel is finally used, it is exposed to the heat and pressure of engine injection systems, centrifuges, pumps, heaters causing an increase in asphaltene agglomerations, which negatively impacts combustion efficiency and emissions.

The Smart FPS has three and four-stage water removal and particulate filtration down to 3 micron. Dubai International Boat Show
