AXI System Spotlight: STS-6000-30gpm Automated Fuel Filtration System

30gpm specsAXI® STS Automated Fuel Filtration Systems keep your diesel fuel in “pristine condition”. They remove sludge and water from your tanks, dry the fuel and prevent microbial contamination. STS systems use fully-automated programming and remote monitoring to simplify fuel optimization and maintenance programs for diesel and bio-fuel. STS Systems ensure Optimal Fuel Quality and Reliable Emergency Power.

• Fully Automated Filtration System

• Easy Integration with BMS

• SMART Filtration Controller (UL508a)

• Continuous Duty Pump with Viton Seals

• Powder Coated & Stainless Enclosures

• Stainless Steel Plumbing

• Stand Alone, Reliable Turn-Key Equipment

For safe operation, the controller monitors system operation and can easily be integrated in any building management system (BMS). Alarm functions and pump shut down are triggered when filters need service, a leak is detected, high vacuum or pressure occurs, or when there is water in the separator.

STS-6000 systems can be connected to the tank’s “High Fuel Level Alarm” to prevent overfilling and potential spills. All components and control devices are contained within a fully enclosed, lockable, NEMA certified cabinet.

30gpm specsThe principal STS-6000-30 GPM components are:

- Nexus Y-Strainer to protect the pump

- Continuous duty motor with coupled gear pump and Viton Seals,

- Primary filter to remove water and debris

- Secondary coalescing filter to dry the fuel

- AXI Fuel Conditioner to optimize fuel quality increase filterability and eliminate microbial contamination.

Both primary and secondary filters are equipped with pressure gauges, water sensors and alarm modules. The programmable UL 508A listed AXI Smart Filtration Controller automatically operates and monitors the STS system. All components and control devices are contained within a fully enclosed, lockable, weatherproof, NEMA certified enclosure.

Redundant Primary FiltrationSWK-2000 Water Separator/Fuel Filter RMS-60 Filter Monitoring System
SWK-2000 redundant filtration system
The Algae-X SWK-2000 Dual Water Separator/Fuel Filter removes water and suspended particulate from fuels and oil. Five separate stages of filtration ensure 99.9% water separation. The SWK-2000 is designed to reduce wear on fuel pumps and ensure full RPM’s for the most modern diesel engines. The unique back flushing capability significantly extends filter change intervals reducing down time and filter element cost.
• Low Flow Restriction
• True Redundant Dual Filter
• Single Lever Selection Under Full Power
• Easy Switch Filters
• Mission Critical Equipment
The RMS-60 integrates seamlessly with existing building manage- ment systems for onsite and remote monitoring of dual and primary filtration systems. Remote filtration monitoring systems prevent unexpected equip- ment downtime caused by sudden filter plugging. The color coded panel lights on the controller give an instant status report on system power and on alarms for high vacuum and high water level in both filter separator bowls. The RMS controller is designed for use in applications where downtime is unacceptable & redundant filtration a necessity. The control system will timely warn the operator to switch filters and keep heavy equipment and generators running at all times.

System Spotlight: TC-1000 / TC-3000 On Board Tank Cleaning System

TC-1000 Tank Cleaning SystemThe TC is a High Capacity On-Board Tank Cleaning and Fuel Transfer System that reconditions stabilizes and decontaminates fuel. It efficiently removes water, sludge and sediments that naturally accumulate in tanks. The TC cleans tanks and restores fuel to its “Clear & Bright” condition.

The system can be easily installed on existing vessels or engineered into new construction. It provides the dual capability of fuel polishing and fuel transfer, eliminating fuel “algae” issues, clogged filters and tank sludge. “Optimal Fuel Quality for Peak Engine Performance and Reliability”

Stage 1:

The separator/coalescer removes water and particulate that is easily drained by opening the valve on the bottom of the separator.

Stage 2:

The ALGAE-X® Fuel Conditioner reconditions and stabilizes the fuel, reversing the process of fuel deterioration and buildup of tank sludge.

Stage 3:

The industrial type water block fine filter removes emulsified water and very fine solids down to 3 microns.

TC Onboard Tank Cleaning System SpecsALGAE-X® TC Systems are built with industrial quality components, connected with Stainless Steel plumbing and mounted on a heavy-duty white powder coated plate. A pressure gauge is installed on the spin-on filter head to ensure optimal filter usage. The stainless steel liquid filled vacuum gauge monitors the separator and protects the pump.

ALGAE-X® Fuel Catalyst (AFC-705) The use of AFC-705 is recommended as a standard part of any tank cleaning procedure, to more rapidly and efficiently decontaminate and clean the entire fuel system, and remove sludge, slime and bio-fouling from tank walls and baffles. AFC-705 is a full spectrum fuel conditioner containing combustion catalyst, surfactant, detergent, dispersant, corrosion inhibitor, lubricity enhancers and fuel stabilizer that eliminates the need for expensive toxic biocides.

TC Options: Digital Flow Meter, Water Sensor Alarm. Larger capacity fuel polishing, tank cleaning and fuel transfer systems are available.

Algae-X FAQ: How Does Fuel Stability Affect Me?

How Does Fuel Quality Impact YouFuel stability is a serious concern for the diesel fuel user.

The chemistry of diesel fuel instability involves the chemical conversion of precursors to species of higher molecular weight with limited solubility. The conversion process often involves oxidation of the precursors. Fuel solvency plays a role, since the development of insolubles is always a function of both the presence of higher molecular weight species and the fuel capacity to dissolve them.

We all realize that fuel is an unstable, organic liquid that goes “bad”. Your vendor will always sell you the highest fuel quality possible. However, due to a variety of circumstances fuel may have “aged”, oxidized and/or contain water. It may have been contaminated before it was delivered to you or to your vendor.

Fuel has to travel from the refinery to the end user destination. It is pumped through pipelines, barged, trucked and stored in tank farms. Diurnal changes in temperature and exposure to the atmosphere will cause condensation and water in storage systems. None of this will help improve fuel quality.

When your fuel is finally used, it is exposed to the heat and pressure of engine injection systems, centrifuges, pumps, heaters causing an increase in asphaltene agglomerations, which negatively impacts combustion efficiency and emissions.
